Alarm System Takeovers & Upgrades
Most people who are unhappy with their alarm company assume switching means buying a whole new system. Usually it doesn’t.
System Takeovers
A New Provider, Not Necessarily New Equipment
If your existing equipment is functional, we can often reprogram it to our central station, add cellular communication, and enable smartphone control — keeping your panel, your sensors, and your wiring. You get a new provider and a better system for a fraction of what a replacement costs.
Reasons People Call Us
Sound Familiar?
Slow to Respond
The current company doesn’t return calls, or takes days to schedule service.
Service Dropped After Acquisition
Quality fell after the local company was bought by a national one.
Vendor Disappeared
The installing company went out of business and nobody supports the system.
Still on a Phone Line
The system still reports over a landline instead of cellular.
Rates Went Up
Monitoring rates increased without explanation.
Constant False Alarms
Nobody’s fixed the underlying cause.
The Process
What a Takeover Involves
1. Evaluation. We inspect your panel, devices, wiring, and communication path, and test what’s actually working.
2. An honest recommendation. Sometimes a takeover is right; sometimes replacement is the better investment. We’ll tell you which, with the numbers.
3. Reprogramming to our central station, updated codes, and correction of any zone programming errors.
4. Communication upgrade. Cellular or dual-path replacing the phone line — where most of the improvement comes from.
5. App enablement for remote arming, notifications, and activity history.
6. Repairs and additions where needed, and 7. training for everyone who arms and disarms.
The Tool That Makes It Possible
Takeover Technology
Alula BAT Connect connects to an existing panel — including panels from other manufacturers — and adds cellular communication and full app control without replacing the panel or rewiring devices. For a building with thirty devices already wired and working, this frequently saves several thousand dollars against replacement.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I locked into my current contract?
Check your agreement for the term and notice requirements. We’ll help you read it and time the transition so you’re not paying two companies at once.
Will you have to rewire everything?
Rarely. Existing wiring and devices generally stay in place. That’s the entire point of a takeover.
How long does a takeover take?
Most are a single visit. Larger systems or ones needing significant repair may take two.
What if my panel is really old?
Bring us the make and model. Some panels from the 1990s are still perfectly serviceable. Others should have been replaced years ago.
Do you do takeovers on fire alarm systems too?
Yes, including inspection and monitoring on systems another company installed.
Is there a fee to evaluate my system?
No. We’ll come look at what you have and give you a written recommendation at no cost.
